 The Art Depot-Gargrave | Chrysalis Arts designs and creates art work in glass, the company's artists work with specialist suppliers and manufacturers to create glass artwork using a wide variety of techniques. At FORUM- Wythenshawe artists used kiln- fired stained glass colour on lead float glass and antique flash glass laminated between two sheets of toughened glass to create a series of 36 panels mounted on three suspended steel spiral frames. |  FORUM-Wythenshawe |
Towneley Hall-Burnley | At Burnley Youth Theatre, stained and enamelled lead-float glass was incorporated into three triple glazed units to create a 9 metre artwork glass sign that spanned the front elevation of the new theatre building. At The Art Depot-Gargrave, the art depot sign is made up of recycled hand-cast glass letters and the entrance doors incorporate a sandblasted glass design in a series of double glazed units. A gently undulating arrow of glass paving leads up to the front door, Illuminated at night by a fibre optic light system that slowly changes colour. At Towneley Hall – Burnley, sandblasted double glazed entrance doors with a contemporary design based on the historic Towneley coat of arms are incorporated into the new visitor centre. The inherent beauty of the raw material, its versatility and durability when used appropriately make it an ideal medium for public art and one that Chrysalis artists are keen to explore further. |
