Metalwork
| Chrysalis Arts designs and creates art work in ferrous and non ferrous metal, often using a variety of techniques and metals in combination. Artists work with specialist suppliers, fabricators, foundries and blacksmiths to create artwork that utilise modern fabrication techniques alongside traditional skills. A project example of this is Steel Banners Seats Markers-Bilston. |
Connecting the City-Bradford 
Brigshaw School-Leeds | Wrought & Cast Iron were used in the competition-winning Pavilion-Fareham where traditional blacksmith and foundry skills were combined with modern timber and steel engineering to create a functional landmark artwork.
Stainless steel was featured in Connecting the City – Bradford where sheet stainless steel was used to form a 6 metre burler's needle.
Hand forged stainless steel was used to create a series of six twisted bar panels depicting people shopping at Curzon Square – Burnley.
Bronze was sand-cast into feature panels and details including cricket stumps and balls on the Hutton Gates –Headingley.
A series of bronze finials and a gate latch were mould-cast from hand carved patterns at Shenley-Birmingham.
Cast aluminium was used to create a series of interior entrance panels for Brigshaw School – Leeds where artists worked with school pupils to make the casting patterns.
Enamelled Steel was used at St. Philips School-Salford as part of a series of fence panels that were designed in workshops with the school pupils.
Chrysalis has pioneered techniques in hand cut steel plate to realise silhouette designs developed in community workshops on projects such as Grange Park-Preston. The versatility and durability of metal makes it an ideal medium for public art. |
