Chrysalis Arts has pioneered a robust technique for ceramic mosaic suitable for paving in public spaces. This method can also be used for community workshops, and Chrysalis Arts can run training courses in this technique.

For exterior work the ceramic tiles used are fully vitrified and at least 8mm thick, they are pre-cast into 75mm thick concrete paving sections. When laid on a suitable foundation the mosaic can withstand the traffic associated with a pedestrian street with service vehicle access - see Curzon Square-Burnley.

Interior mosaic flooring can be prefabricated in sections onto a backing mesh that can be laid as part of a tiled floor - see Wythenshawe Forum concourse mosaic.
