Artwork Entrance to Avenham and Miller Parks, Preston

As part of the refurbishment of the historic Avenham and Miller Parks, Chrysalis Arts were commissioned by Preston City Council to create artwork for the Stable Yard boundary railings at the South Meadow Lane park entrance.

Kate Maddison and Van Nong worked with local artist Samantha Aylwin and community groups and residents through a workshop and consultation programme to develop a series of artwork panels. The designs were based on historical and contemporary images of the park and represent the culturally diverse ideas and experiences of local residents who use the park today.

The project was developed in collaboration with the Environmental Services Department's Landscape Architect and Art in Public Places Officer and was manufactured by Chrysalis Arts with Bradley Engineering and English Enamels and installed in 2006.
