Two Entrance Markers, Bilston, Wolverhampton
Two illuminated freestanding sculptures were commissioned by Wolverhampton Metropolitan Borough Council, the first in 1999, the second in 2004 to complement the Market Way scheme and mark the entrance to either end of the pedestrianised High Street/ Church Street through Bilston Town Centre.
Both draw reference to the Bilston coat of arms, the sculpture sited at the west end of the pedestrianised High street is mounted on a 7 metre tapered steel column. It consists of a guilded rising sun with stainless steel rays and spiral bands emerging from it that supports the word Bilston and at the top, two martlets.

The sculpture sited at the east end of the pedestrianised Church Street outside Bilston Town Hall consists of a 7.5 metre column with a guilded rising sun and a stainless steel mantle, that curves in a fluid 'S' form between two steel bands. The lower band has the name Bilston, a Staffordshire knot, three oak leaves and ermine cut into it, the upper has the four compass direction points and is surmounted by a martlet wind vane.
