Time Flow Sculpture Grange Park - Preston

In May 1999 Chrysalis Arts were commissioned by Preston Borough Council to produce an artwork as part of the refurbishment of Grange Park. The parkland occupies the former grounds of Ribbleton Hall and the site for the artwork was close to Hall's foundations. To tie in with the heritage theme of the refurbishment, artist Helen Callaghan took the concept of archeology and working with Kate Maddison developed ideas for the Time Flow Sculpture. In collaboration with the Council's Architects Division and through a programme of workshops with local residents the sculpture developed into its final form.

The sculpture is a flowing 3 dimensional interpretation of an archeological frame used to map the original position of archeological finds. It incorporates a series of 'finds' cast in bronze from wax originals that were made in workshops with local residents led by the artists and represent their personal archeological impressions of Grange Park.

Created in the Year 2000 the Time Flow sculpture was installed and opened on the 9th June 2001 as part of the celebrations for the park refurbishment.
