Public consciousness - raising event and exhibition of artworks
'It's a Different World' was the title of an intervention at the five- star Lowry Hotel that became one of the launch events of the Manchester Food and Drink Festival that takes place each October. Produce was taken from the allotments, brought in a horse-drawn carriage, to be cooked at the hotel. The Executive Chef and Head Chef took responsibility for the event, visiting the allotment site, meeting the growers and liaising with them to create a special vegetable-focused menu for the event.

The event that brought together environmental activists with local authority Primary Care Trust 5-a day healthy eating campaigners and the luminaries of the vegetable showing world, chefs, local councillors, educationalists, artists, arts professionals and the Kersal Vale Allotment Association with other allotment holders from around Manchester. Debby Akam and Peter Hatton's work was showcased at this event.
