Chrysalis Arts completed this award winning regeneration project in June 1993. The commission involved a collaborative consultation and design process with Salford City Council's planning and landscape design team and a residency at St Philip's School. Rick Faulkner was involved in the project development, Kate Maddison and Tracey Cartledge led a consultation and workshop programme based at the school to involve all the staff, pupils and parents in the creation of the artwork.
The artists set out on a creative process to express the identity of the school and develop pupils' perception of the way they relate to the boundary fence and landscaped grounds. Pioneering techniques of community involvement were developed in this project that have informed the methods used by Chrysalis Arts on subsequent regeneration schemes.
The boundary and grounds of St Philip's School underwent a full refurbishment and Chrysalis Arts worked with the landscape architect to integrate the artwork into the overall landscape design. The artworks created were:
18 special railing panels, two sets of gates, the school sign, six frame seats, two litter bins, a pedestrian safety barrier. The artworks were fabricated steel, vitreous enamelled steel, gun metal and timber.

The scheme won the Royal Town Planning Institute award for planning achievement 1994 and the judges comments included:
"The scheme was notable for the participation of artists in the process... it must be one of the most imaginative schemes of urban regeneration ever undertaken. The decision to bring in Chrysalis Arts to participate in the treatment can only be described as inspired... It brings all the delight of artistic creation and good design to an inner city area."
