Local residents lived without gardens and were soon to move to housing with them, artists worked with the idea of new gardens in Everton, Heathcliffe House and Sefton park.
In Everton, artists ran workshops with a core group of residents who had moved from high-rise to low-rise living to create a light installation using lanterns inspired by their favourite photographs. These were displayed in the new community garden alongside work created by the artists in fibre optic cable.
At Heathcliffe House "Change of Direction" became the final theme for the installation. Strands of light ran from the tower, beginning in white and changing to green light, connected to a small tree in the new garden space, a symbol of new growth and regeneration. Sawdust patterns on the ground and the flicker of firelight highlighted the transformation of the land into a garden for future communities to enjoy.

The tower blocks on the edge of Sefton Park in the south of the city, were in the process of being renovated. Artists and residents worked together to make a series of light sculptures that were placed in a grassed area between the tower blocks, creating a 'fantasy garden' or 'a garden for the future'.
The artists lived and worked, at Hetherlow Towers for the duration of the 18-day residency, on the 13th floor of Tower Block 1 where they were able to build a strong relationship with the residents, enabling them to create artworks that reflected the community's feelings and aspiration.
Light and projection techniques, digital photography, digital video and sound recording were employed in four installations that drew on everyday life.
