Steel and Glass Spirals

Glass artist Alan Davis developed a sequence of 12 square glass panel designs ranging in rainbow colours from blue to red. The detail of each glass square is derived from stained glasswork that was created in community workshop sessions run by the artist.

A series of three glass and steel spirals are suspended below the concourse roof light, they align with and intersect the gaps between the four suspended ceiling panels that fan out at an angle from the learning zone reception to the sky light.

The 4mm thick hand worked antique coloured glass is laminated with 4mm toughened glass, drilled and bolted to the steel frame to assure it meets safety requirements.
